Customer Service I recently picked up a new hobby.
No, it’s not underwater basket weaving. But don’t think I didn’t consider it.
It’s boxing.
I’m still in the early stages, and I’m perfecting my 1-2 (that’s the left jab followed by a right cross for all you uninitiated folk).
I remember like it was just last week how sore I was after that first day of training. Which is good considering it was only a month ago.
I looked into some of the best ways to help ease the burden on my body from intense training sessions. And sleep kept coming up over and over again.
Studies say that sleep is the biggest factor in recovering after a workout. While your muscles recover steadily throughout the day, sleep is when your hormonal system rebalances.
What that means is: it doesn’t matter how many protein bars you eat. Sleeping right is a critical element in building health gains. And sleep helps make sure your body is synthesizing that protein and turning it into muscle.

As a fairly young company, Zoma only offers one mattress. I’m sure we’ll see more from them, as their original product is proving to be popular.
But for this review, I gave the original mattress a try.
Construction
The Zoma mattress is built with a triple-foam construction.
The first layer (closest to the body) is Zoma’s memory foam with unique Triangulex zoned technology.
So what is Triangulex zoned technology?
Triangulex technology modifies the feel of the mattress, creating a dynamic support system for the entire body. Basically, the foam top is firm along the midsection, offering more support for your lumbar and hips. But it’s softer along the shoulders and hips, which relieves pressure-point pain for the side sleepers.
Below their Triangulex foam, there’s a layer of Reactiv poly-foam. This layer offers a balance of cushion and firmness. Most of the mattress is made up of high-density foam for firmness and support.
Support and Pressure-Point Relief
Because the Zoma was built with a firmer mid-section, the lumbar and back support is excellent. This makes it a top choice for back sleepers.
In testing, we found this mattress felt right in the middle between soft and firm. It made our list of best mattresses for back pain because of the extra support in the lumbar area.
But because it’s softer along the knees, shoulders, and head, this mattress is a fantastic choice for side sleepers as well.
One area I felt Zoma fell short was its suitability for stomach sleepers. Even with the extra support through the center, stomach sleepers need a much firmer mattress to evenly distribute weight while still giving back support, and Zoma was built with more comfort in mind.
Temperature Regulation
Zoma wraps its innovative foam design in a mesh-fabric cover that’s breathable and light. While there are other mattresses I feel did a better job of diffusing and converting body heat, the Zoma mattress is not a “hot mattress.”
Instead, I’d say it’s neutral in terms of temperature regulation. While most foam mattresses keep your body heat pressed against you, the cooling cover on the Zoma is very breathable.
This kept the mattress from ever feeling too warm. At the same time, it’s not the most efficient mattress at distributing body heat that I’ve ever tried.
If you’ve always been a heavy sweater when you sleep, I recommend Amerisleep.
But if you’ve never had a problem temperature-wise, Zoma will keep you comfortable.
Company Policies and Customer Service
The ordering and delivery process is super easy. They offer free shipping and free returns.
Plus, they have a 100-night trial period where you can return your mattress no questions asked. And if that’s not enough, Zoma also offers a 10-year warranty.
I like to see brands—especially those working with memory-foam—offer such extended warranties. An issue a lot of memory foam mattresses have is that they become too soft over time. But with Zoma, you can get a refund or return it if it sags.
And what company would sell a product that would self-destruct and ruin their business just a few years down the road?
It’s a bold promise on the quality of their products, which I appreciate.
My Thoughts Overall
What I Like
There’s plenty of support for your back and hips while staying soft at the shoulders and knees. This is due in part to the zoned construction.
The design was specifically to help athletes and active people recover while they’re sleeping.
The balance of firm and soft makes it a top choice for back, side, and combination sleepers.
Zoma is more affordable than many other zone-construction alternatives.
The free shipping, free returns, 100-night sleep trial, and 10-year warranty are certainly a confidence boost in the brand.
What I Don’t Like
Because there aren’t any springs in this mattress, folks above 230 lbs might not find it has enough support.
The mattress was a bit too soft for stomach sleepers. Stomach sleepers often need a much firmer bed to help distribute the pressure.
The Verdict
The Zoma mattress is a well-built, long-lasting bed that will help you get the most recovery time while sleeping.
The zoned foam construction is perfect for side, back, and combination sleepers as there’s more support in the lumbar area. And because the shoulders and knee areas are softer, you don’t have to worry about pain on your pressure points throughout the night.
As an only downside, because the bed is medium firmness and made exclusively with foam, it may not be the right fit for folks over 230 pounds or those who sleep on their stomach.
If you’re an athlete or live an active lifestyle, Zoma is the mattress for you. A good night’s sleep can give you the edge you need to beat the competition or just end the day a winner.
